Digital Talent Applications Open

We are offering six London Youth members the opportunity to deliver the Digital Talent 2.0 programme from January 2024 to February 2025.

London Youth will provide ongoing support, training opportunities and sector contacts to assist members in delivering the programme. 

The programme will target 18 to 24 year olds from underrepresented groups, with a particular focus on working with Black, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani young people who have higher rates of unemployment and are underrepresented in tech jobs. Young people of colour are twice as likely to be unemployed compared to their white peers. This inequality is even more pronounced for Black (29%), Bangladeshi and Pakistani young people (27%). They are also hugely underrepresented in the UK tech workforce (15% were from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds in 2018).  

Despite a 40% growth in the last few years in the UK Tech sector (Tech Nation, Jobs and Skills Report, 2020), there is a significant skills shortage.  Digital Talent 2.0 offers the opportunity to capitalise on this demand by training young people to “plug this gap” and help them to secure jobs for the future. This programme also aims to support young people in finding alternatives to the traditional university route into employment by offering access to training, qualifications, and work experience.
