‘We have decided that we want to keep chickens….the community will also be involved because they will be buying the produce that we make. We aim to achieve many things but the key thing is teamwork, not just to help the individuals work well, but also for the chickens.’

Since their weekend away the young people at Samuel Montagu Youth Club in Greenwich have been developing ideas for their environmental initiatives, and through direct facilitation, self-initiated research and discussions have decided upon an ambitious project for keeping chickens.

The project plan was drafted, the site was agreed, the keys were handed over and the spades were out. With action plan in hand the first stages of the groundworks took place this summer and will continue upon their return in September.
