It was with great pride and admiration that we watched many proud community champions being recognise for their hard work.
We are especially grateful to the undisputed stars of the show, the inspirational young people who took to the stage to enhance our enjoyable evening programme.
Arts and Culture Award
The Albany is awarded for their Love2Dance programme in a partnership with Lewisham Homes, a social housing provider in the borough. The programme engages the young people who live on 3 estates across the borough and gets them involved in weekly street dance workshops. For many young people this programme is the only opportunity to get involved in arts activities in their local community and in London.
Employability Award
Autus, the working name for the Hao2.eu Foundation, is awarded this year for their services offered to people with autism and complex needs. They exist to facilitate the young peoples’ personal and professional growth and increasing opportunities for exciting and sustainable work to improve their lives and prospects.
Outdoor Education Award
Westminster House Youth Club is awarded for their work with young people amongst the most deprived and disadvantaged in the country. Westminster House Youth Club is one of the oldest youth clubs in the UK.
Sports Development Award
Cambridge House is awarded this year for their SENsational Sports programme which provides therapeutic sports activities to the most marginalised and least active young people in Southwark.
Youth Social Action Award 
Coram’s Fields is awarded for their initiated social action project ‘Sleep Out’ to help the homeless in their local Camden area.
Young Leader of the Year
We are happy to award Temitope (ECPATUK) for her exceptional leadership skills. Despite all the challenges that Temi faced growing up, she continuously commits to working hard to build her confidence and skills in order to help others in need. Temi engaged fully in ECPAT UK being part of campaign projects to raise awareness about Human Trafficking. Temi now co-runs the youth group and delivers training to professionals about safeguarding child victims of trafficking.

We are proud to award Rickardo (Art Against Knives) for his entrepreneurial approach to tackle youth unemployment in Barnet. Rickardo designed and set up the first ‘Community Nail Bar’, working with the young residents of Dollis Valley estate to design, and run the project themselves.
Community Champion Awards 2018
The Community Champion Awards 2018 recognised truly inspirational youth workers from London communities who have volunteered with their local youth organisations from 5 to up to 50+ years. All too often, achievements are not highlighted but these awards made sure that they are rewarded for their amazing compassion and hard work.
Congratulations to every Award winner, community champion, nominee and audience member for being part of a truly special night and for making 2018 a year to remember.
