Thursday 26 June
On Friday 13th June, on the occasion of the visit of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh to Hindleap Warren, we were delighted to receive a cheque for £10,000 for Hindleap Warren from John Barnett, Chair of Variety's Youth Clubs Committee.
Young people from London Youth member club Rathbone Society and Rosie Ferguson, our Chief Executive, were on hand to receive the cheque. Variety support helps London Youth to continue to subsidise residentials at Hindleap Warren for our member youth clubs. The need and demand for quality outdoor education continues to increase and evolve while the opportunities are reducing; one in three outdoor centres in the UK are closing and many schools and youth groups can no longer offer subsidised places for young people who can't afford to go. In this context the London Youth subsidy for Hindleap, and Variety's support, is essential.
Variety (previously Variety Club) have been friends of Hindleap Warren throughout its history and were involved in helping young people from our member youth clubs to build the first log cabins when London Youth (then the Federation of London Boys Clubs) were given Hindleap Warren in 1964. We're delighted to receive this significant new support in Hindleap's 50th year.
