Our statement on the new Government
13 December 2019
Following the General Election, the Conservative Party have formed a Government with Boris Johnson remaining as Prime Minister.
Rosemary Watt-Wyness, our Chief Executive, said:
We look forward to working with the Prime Minister and the new Government to champion young Londoners and to strengthen the community youth organisations that support them.
We believe in the future of young Londoners and want them to grow up happy, healthy, safe, and skilled. However, the current moment is a critical time for the young people of London, who face a host of complex and intractable challenges. I call on the Prime Minister to acknowledge these challenges and to commit to answering the big questions facing the youth sector.
Your manifesto pledges to “give young people a future” and we will hold you to this and to continuing the good work underway at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), including the establishment of the Youth Investment Fund, creating a youth charter, and the review of statutory guidance for local authorities.
We stand with our 450+ member youth organisations behind us. They demand change for young Londoners. We urge you to prioritise it.
