London Youth Inclusion Week Summary
08 December 2014
Monday 8 December
From December 1-5 we celebrated the Inclusion work that takes place across our network in our first ever ‘London Youth Inclusion Week’. Throughout the week we promoted the work of our members and programme partners on our website and across social media. A summary of our inclusion content can be found below:
Monday 1 December:
Jim Shepley from Haringey Shed spoke to us about their work with disabled young people and how they ensure all their activities are fully inclusive.
Tuesday 2 December:
Kinja FC is one of our member clubs and they work with us on our award winning Getting Ready sports programme. Yul Muzzioli from Kinja FC spoke to us about their work with young people with learning disabilities in a sporting context.
We also promoted our role as one of the partners of #GivingTuesday and said that any donations made on that day would support our Inclusion work.
Wednesday 3 December:
Wednesday was the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and on this day we launched our ‘Forward Thinking’ Inclusion video. We also spoke to Maggie Mendy from Wac Arts about the activities they run with young people.
Thursday 4 December:
This day had a focus on employability and we spoke to City and Hackney Mind and RLSB about how they ensure that employability opportunities for all young people are inclusive.
Friday 5 December:
Last but certainly not least we focused the final day of ‘London Youth Inclusion Week’ on outdoor education. We provided two examples from Hindleap Warren, one of a young person and one from an outdoor instructor.
