Would you like to experience what it might be like to work in the Civil Service?

HM Treasury is one of the oldest and most exciting government departments. It is responsible for managing the ‘purse strings’ of the county. Although HM Treasury are known for managing public spending, it also provides careers in many other exciting areas, such as HR, economics and tax.

HM Treasury officials help the Chancellor decide where money should be spent, how to create a strong economy for the UK, and what to put in the Budget each year.

Two years ago, the UK voted to leave the EU, triggering the formation of the Department for International Trade (DIT) to help businesses export, attract investment, negotiate market access and free trade deals, and champion global free trade.

Although DIT is still one of the newest departments, it is responsible for some of the most important work across Government. DIT officials are helping Ministers and Trade Negotiators to operate the UK’s first independent trade policy in more than 40 years.

London Youth are excited to be partnering with HM Treasury and the Department for International Trade to offer young Londoners aged 16-19 [or up to the age of 24 if enrolled on Talent Match London] a unique look inside Whitehall.

The week-long opportunity, beginning on Monday 20th August, will involve:

✓ A careers session, where you will find out about the various roles and opportunities to work in the Civil Service.

✓ Meeting staff from HM Treasury and the Department for International Trade to learn about what they do and how they came to work there.
