Emoji Cards
Brief:Non-verbal check-in
Equipment: Pens, paper, cards and scissors (or) printer
Step by Step
- Create your own set of emoji cards (this can be with young people or before the session).
- You can use these as a group or in a 1:1 session to check-in with how a young person is feeling.
- You can also use these to explore different case studies (examples of other young people), to explore different topics on emotion.
Things to Consider
In a group context, only ask follow up questions if appropriate.
Explainer
This is a good visual way with less vulnerability so young people can express how they are feeling and/or practice empathy.
