Emoji Cards

Brief:Non-verbal check-in

Equipment: Pens, paper, cards and scissors (or) printer

Step by Step

  1. Create your own set of emoji cards (this can be with young people or before the session).
  2. You can use these as a group or in a 1:1 session to check-in with how a young person is feeling.
  3. You can also use these to explore different case studies (examples of other young people), to explore different topics on emotion.

Things to Consider

In a group context, only ask follow up questions if appropriate.

Explainer

This is a good visual way with less vulnerability so young people can express how they are feeling and/or practice empathy.
