Understanding and improving charity governance

31 October, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Governance is the glue that holds organisations together and to remain consistent to the values and purpose of a charity. We will discuss what good governance is, how it is used in practice and the implications internally and externally. The roles and responsibilities of trustees and how this can best be managed will be explored.

Governance is a complex combination of internal and external legal requirements, expected norms of behaviour by peer groups, regulators and peer groups. How best to manage this in a way that manages potential risk and allows a charity to remain true to its purpose and public benefit will be explored. The workshop will also cover how charities can best ensure that public benefit is delivered and reported, and that the charity remains accountable and transparent.
