Safeguarding young people: Embedding safe practice

18 March, 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

Free

Building on the foundations of safeguarding awareness, this advanced course supports youth practitioners in deepening their understanding of the risks and challenges facing young people in our communities today.

Designed for experienced youth workers and allied professionals, the session builds confidence and skill in applying safeguarding principles to real-world practice.

Through interactive activities, shared learning and reflective discussion, participants will explore complex situations, strengthen professional curiosity and sound judgment, and learn how to work with young people as active partners in their own safety.

It provides a safe and engaging space to share experiences, explore dilemmas, and embed a culture of safety, inclusion, and shared responsibility across your work, your team and with other agencies.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise and respond to specific forms of harm faced by young people at home, online, and in their wider community.
  • Apply professional curiosity and reflection to build trust and work with young people as partners in their own safety.
  • Collaborate effectively with other agencies, understanding their roles and how to contribute within multi-agency safeguarding activity.
  • Promote a strong safeguarding culture within their team, modelling good practice and mutual responsibility.
