Born Ambitious is a network of ambassadors designed to inspire young people.
At London Youth we always strive to help young Londoners achieve their full potential, but first, we have to show them what is possible.
We platform Londoners of the global majority from a variety of sectors and careers to inspire young Londoners to think big and navigate a fulfilling career. Through Born Ambitious, we:
⭐ Introduce relatable role models to inspire new generations of young people.
⭐ Offer exciting examples of success stories to young Londoners, from people who overcame similar barriers to themselves.
⭐ Encourage young Londoners to think big and expand their idea of what’s possible, regardless of where you’ve come from.
⭐ Champion the work of London Youth, youth clubs, youth workers, mentors, and the importance of equality of access to opportunities.
⭐ Enhance our offer to members and their young people, through exciting engagement with our ambassadors.

Our why
1 in 4 young people surveyed in 2023 feel like they are going to fail in life. Statistics like this one worsened with loss of social interaction and education in the pandemic, and are now deepened by the cost-of-living crisis.
Young Black African, Black British and Black Caribbean young people are most likely to feel unsupported by their secondary school, and less likely to have received face-to-face careers advice, affecting their confidence in exploring their future aspirations.
On top of this, 50% of Black young Londoners are currently living in poverty.
We know how vital it is that the next generation of Londoners are inspired and motivated. They need relatable journeys to aspire to, and they need hope.
Born Ambitious strives to create this movement, and London Youth is best placed to launch it. We have around 600 member youth clubs all over London supporting over 600,000 young people. Last year, 80% of young people who took part in London Youth’s programmes were from Black, Asian or minority ethnic communities, and 18% had a mental and/or physical disability.
We can share these inspirational stories within our network and beyond, while continuing to work towards a sustainable youth sector and to offer life-changing programmes.
