Could you help us navigate the challenges and opportunities of the next stage of our development?

We are currently looking for five Trustees to join our Board of Trustees. You will have the opportunity to really shape and support a significant youth charity impacting 75,000 young people a year and to work as part of a committed and diverse team.

We’re in a strong position as an organisation. Through great partnerships, we’ve established a nationally recognised and respected quality mark for youth work – and now have over 100 youth clubs accredited through it.

With the support of a huge range of funders, we’ve established award winning programmes to support young people through sport, youth action and employability – delivered through our network of clubs to give opportunities to thousands of young people who might otherwise miss out.

We’ve secured significant financing to invest in our outstanding outdoor education centres, so that they now offer gold standard residential opportunities for young people.

And we’re leading the way in helping voluntary organisations in London rethink how they support young people into work.

We’ve also established a respected and practitioner led outcomes framework to measure and understand the impact of our work with young people and are an early adopter for the Centre for Youth Impact.

Having grown from £4.5m to £7m income over the last three years, we now want to strengthen our Trustee Board so that we can build on this strong platform.

Recruiting new Trustees

With a number of Trustees standing down, as well as some existing gaps and considering our current strategic plans, we are looking to recruit around five new Trustees. The deadline for expressing your interest is 14th September.

First and foremost, we are looking for Trustees that are committed, have the enthusiasm and the ability to devote the necessary time to London Youth and are passionate about supporting and challenging young people to be the best they can be.

Specifically, we are looking for three Trustees who have knowledge and experience of:

·         Contemporary Youth Work

·         London Youth’s membership network

We are looking for Trustees from our member clubs who have achieved the Bronze Quality Mark.

We are also looking for a further two Trustees who can bring the following professional skills:

·         Property portfolio and portfolio management

·         Corporate and/or City relationships

We are committed to maintaining a diverse Board, in terms of age, ethnicity, gender, disability and skills required, to reflect our membership and the communities in which we work. Diversity is of great importance to our strategy, Board, management and staff.

We are also interested in candidates who can bring the following skills, either in addition to those above or as a combination: an understanding of social investment, employability and careers, and public affairs and policy.

All potential Trustees will be passionate about young people's potential, able to commit to approximately four hours a month (meetings are generally held early evenings) and willing to share their expertise and networks with London Youth.

Potential Trustees are asked to submit an Expression of Interest and then attend an interview with the Chair, a youth board member, other Trustee and Chief Executive.
