Tuesday 25 February

On Wednesday 19 February, London City Powerleague hosted the annual London Youth 5-a-side Football Championship.

Over 300 young people from 19 youth clubs took part in an action packed day with the top two teams in each age-group going through to represent London in the next regional round of the Ambition UK National 5-a-side Football Championship in April.

Copenhagen Youth Project were the winners in the Under-12sUnder-16s and Under-19's with QCCA winning the Under-14s competition.

We spoke to Stephen Griffith, manager of the Copenhagen Youth Project teams, and Nathan Yarnie, who coached the QCCA Under-14s, after the tournament and they were delighted with how their teams performed.

We also found out from sports development officer John Jones about how the Football Championship fits in with our work on the Getting Ready programme.

Photos from the Championship can be found here.
