London Youth offers a wide range of network-wide training and one to one support for individual member organisations.

One to One Support

Learning clinics

  • Our monthly learning clinics are an opportunity for members to access support and advice from a member of our learning team.
  • Members can use them to get advice and support on impact measurement and evaluation, including reviewing evaluation tools and frameworks and signposting to further information.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety one to one support

  • Our Head of Safety and Safeguarding will help you to review your safeguarding policies and Health & Safety documents and provide advice and guidance.

Quality Mark Support

  • We support all our members to achieve our Quality Mark. 
  • Each member is supported by an assigned Quality Mark Officer to develop good practice in delivering services to young people.

Training

London Youth delivers a range of training workshops and courses to develop the expertise of youth work professionals, youth work volunteers and trustees of youth organisations. Topics include safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity, impact measurement and evaluation, and more. Our courses and workshops teach best practice whilst providing the knowledge and context to ensure that our members are equipped with the skills they need to deliver fantastic youth work.

Building Manager Training

This workshop is designed for anyone with responsibility for building management and who needs to understand their Health and Safety duties. It will cover Fire, Legionella, Asbestos, COSHH, Working at Height, Manual Handling, Maintenance and Inspection regimes and Risk Assessment.


Introduction to Equality and Diversity

An introduction to equality legislation and steps you can take to improve your organisation’s approach to Equality and Diversity.


Introduction to Impact Measurement and Evaluation

This full-day training workshop will introduce you to the key concepts in impact measurement and give you the skills and knowledge to help you measure outcomes of your project or programme. During the workshop, you will have an opportunity to develop a theory of change, consider different methods for gathering evidence and start to build an evaluation plan. 


Introduction to Mental Health

This workshop aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to better educate young people about mental health stigma and discrimination. It is a ready to run session package folder of handouts, lesson plans and information fact sheets about mental health which can then be delivered directly in your organisation. 


Introduction to Safeguarding

This course gives staff the tools to recognise child abuse, understand what actions to take and how to refer to their designated person. This is suitable for all staff and volunteers who come into contact with young people.


Lead Safeguarding Officer (Level 3 accredited)

Every organisation working with young people should have a Designated Person. This course provides advanced Level 3 knowledge of child protection helping a Designated Person recognise and know what to do if they believe that a child is at risk.  The course aims to provide advanced information on reporting strategies, policies and procedures.


Mental Health First Aid Accredited Training

The Youth MHFA course is an internationally recognised course designed specifically for those people that teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 8 to 18 years. You will learn how to:

  • Provide information, tools and techniques to promote a young person’s mental and emotional wellbeing
  • Support a young person who might be experiencing mental and emotional distress.

Policies Workshop

Led by London Youth’s Head of Safety and Safeguarding, this workshop aims at providing you with the information you need to create good Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies.


Risk Assessment

Learn the best methods to create good risk assessments – what should your structure be and what should you include?


Leadership training

We offer a range of youth work specific leadership and management training – tailored to enable youth work professionals and trustees to develop the leadership necessary to respond to the particular challenges the youth sector is facing. Our leadership courses and seminars cover topics such as managing and engaging stakeholders, leading your youth work organisation through change, governance, diversifying income and future planning.
