About the opportunity

What is involved? This is a one day event volunteering opportunity. As a marshal you will help us prepare the day, set up the street party and registration desks, and/or later be positioned along the route where it will be your role to direct walkers and offer support and encouragement as they go past. Afterwards you are invited to join in the fun at the street party on Carey Street. We need volunteers who are available on Monday 22nd May 2017 and able to commit to one of these time slots: • Walk volunteer - prep and set up: 11am - 4pm (only 25 needed) • Route marshal - prep and en route: 3pm - 9pm (100 needed) • Route marshal (en route): 4pm - 10pm (100 needed) You can volunteer for one slot or more than one slot. The finer details will be provided to you in advance and at the briefing meeting on the day of the walk. At this meeting you will collect your marshalling pack and learn which particular group you have been assigned to. Volunteers will have a great time, first helping blow up lots of balloons and helping set up the street party, and then positioned on the route to cheer and guide the walkers. You will also receive a goody bag as a thank you for helping out AND you'll finish your evening by attending the brilliant street party at the finish line of the walk! We are also hoping to have a special thank you event for our marshals a week or two after the walk - we'll keep you posted on plans for that!

About London Legal Support Trust

The London Legal Support Trust is an independent charity that raises funds for free legal services in London & the South East. We support the provision of specialist legal advice through law centres, advice agencies and citizens advice bureaux by providing them with grant funding alongside other forms of support. We raise funds from fundraising events, including the London Legal Walk. We also receive ad hoc donations from law firms and chambers. In addition to funding we offer our knowledge, contacts and experience of the sector to help agencies become more sustainable.

What are they looking for?
