Woodrow High House

Woodrow High House creates memorable experiences for more than 7000 young people every year. This includes schools, youth groups, charities, faith groups and many more.

Woodrow High House is a 17th Century Manor House. It is situated within 24 acres of grounds on the edge of the Chilterns, in Amersham.

We provide outdoor and indoor activities for residential visits, day courses and camping. We teach over 900 children to swim every term and offer school holiday day camps.

Alongside the house, we have a Sports Hall, Astroturf, Swimming Pool and meeting rooms for use by our visitors.

Our site is fully accessible and we work with many young people with special needs.

You can choose how Woodrow will work best for your group:

  • We can plan a bespoke outdoor activity programme with you.
  • You can run your own courses for training purposes, drama and dance or sports development and combine them with some of our activities.
  • Or you can completely plan your own visit.

Supporting young people to be the best they can be.

What's been said about Woodrow?
  • Weston Turville

The instructors are reliable, skilled and clearly well managed. They know what is supposed to be happening, they lead activities well and they are endlessly patient with queries from staff and children. The food is excellent and the catering staff efficient, friendly and humorous, and although we didn’t meet the housekeeping staff we found the house and facilities clean and well looked after.

The staff are clearly a team and they couldn’t do enough for us.

  • Portfield’s Primary

I would like to extend my thanks to everyone at Woodrow who made Josh’s time an amazing and positive experience. I would like to say a big thank you to Liam, he made Joshua’s stay lots of fun and helped out when we needed him. He made it possible for Josh (who is in a wheelchair) to do the Low Ropes and I cannot put into words how this made me feel that they did this for Josh! – Mum

From point of contact those who supported with the administration of planning our visit were patient, prompt with replying, flexible with the numerous changes/requests we made and of course polite and professional.

On arrival we found the team who dealt with our all girl group, some of which who have never camped before just as fantastic as their colleagues.  Woodrow is equally beautiful, clean and suitably equipped for our activity and camping needs. I found the team to be welcoming, well trained, polite and patient.

Thank you once again for hosting the staff and students from our Haringey centre. They had an absolutely fantastic time! I have been told that in particular, “Wacky races” went down well, as did the delicious food! I would also like to thank your staff – the team noted that the activities were really varied and well organised, and that the WHH team facilitated in a way to encourage teamwork which is a key objective for us on this trip.
