Everyone at London Youth was delighted to hear that we have been short-listed for a prize in the ERSA Employability Awards 2018.
We have been nominated in the Youth Employment category, which is sponsored by entitledto and recognises an employment services provider who has demonstrated exceptional commitment in delivering employment services for young adults.
Talent Match London is an innovative youth employability programme delivered by London Youth and a partnership network of community youth organisations, and funded by the Big Lottery Fund. We use a powerful youth work model to support those young people who are the furthest from the employment market into sustainable employment.
From our work delivering Talent Match London, we have learned a lot about the experiences of young Londoners looking to move into positive and sustainable employment. Our research into ‘hidden’ young people – those young people who are not in education, employment, or training, and are not receiving statutory welfare support – has shown that there may be as many as 480,000 young people in this group, resulting in £440 million of lost revenue in tax and national insurance contributions. We have called for an overhaul of youth strategies and a solution that brings government, business, and the youth sector together to fund youth-centric employment initiatives that support and re-engage these young people. Now in its sixth year, the ERSA Employability Awards celebrate best practice across the employment support sector and seek to demonstrate the day-to-day hard work and dedication of those working to improve the lives of jobseekers, communities, and the wider workforce. The winners of the awards will be announced at a special ceremony on the 14th of June.
Here’s to Talent Match London, our dedicated delivery partners, and the 2,455 talented young Londoners who have participated being recognised for their hard work!
