Celebrating 70 years of patronage by HRH Prince Philip

London Youth was founded in 1887 because the individual youth organisations of the day thought they were stronger by working together.  Since the 1880s much has changed for young Londoners, but community youth organisations have provided a constant lifeline, a vital safe space beyond the family and formal education, where young people can develop the confidence and skills they need to become successful adults.

Below are some great images – past and present – that show HRH Prince Philip’s involvement with London Youth through the years.

You can also read more about HRH Prince Philip’s most recent visits to some of our members and our residential centres here.
