On Saturday 17 August a group of young people and staff from our network of member clubs, including the North London Muslim Community Centre, Dost, and our youth advisory board, Dare London, attended The McLaren Employee Motor Show to fundraise on behalf of London Youth. This annual event was held up at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking and is an opportunity for McLaren staff and their family and friends to enjoy looking at different racing cars and trophies that  McLaren have won as well as taking part in a staff car show. The event has taken place for the last four years in the mid-season break in F1, it is a day all the staff look forward too.

Dare Londoner, Michael Adams said:

“When we arrived we were met by Sally, Learning and Development Adviser at McLaren, who took us on a tour of the premises. It was really exciting to get to see more behind the world of the McLaren cars which I’ve seen on TV, and all the staff there were really welcoming. Once we had finished the tour, we headed outside to the main event to fundraise for London Youth and begin some ‘bucket shaking’. Our group split up into pairs and took it in turns to collect. Kirsty [another Dare Londoner] and I went first. When we started we were both nervous about asking people for money but after a few minuet it became really fun and we had a good time. Once we had finished fundraising we went inside to look at all the cars and buy some souvenirs. Going to McLaren was amazing and everyone there was great. I would love to visit again!”

We’re very grateful for all the support we get to continue our work supporting and challenging young people to be the best they can be. A big thank you to McLaren for giving us the opportunity to not only fundraise at their event, but for also giving young people the opportunity to see into the world behind motor racing.
