Teresa is a former Dare Londoner. She is the Founder of Incredible Brilliant Youth, an organisation she established in 2012 to help young people improve their confidence and self-esteem through personal development workshops. She is also a Young Ambassador for The Prince's Trust 2015-2016.

We asked Teresa about her Dare London experience:

1. What did you do whilst on Dare London?

One of my first memories of Dare London was the training residential weekend. We all bonded pretty quickly and had a great time learning about our roles and what we would be doing at London Youth – helping to decide how the organisation ran and new ways that it could help young people across London. We got to speak on a panel of young people at an event for marketing executives including staff from Unilever, Warehouse and Channel 4.

Myself and another Dare Londoner attended an All Parliamentary Party meeting at Portcillis House in Westminster, where we got to ask ministers questions about funding for youth services in the UK.

I also got to interview Rosie, the CEO, about her life and how she became involved in working with young people, activism and leadership.

2. What did you get from being involved with Dare London?

So much! I grew as a person and got sooo much support from the staff. When I was setting up my business, Incredible Brilliant Youth, everyone gave me great advice and I was able to run a focus group here so I could get the opinions of professionals in the youth sector. I could also use a desk here as well, so when I had work to do on my business plan I could come here and have a space.

3. How being involved with Dare London support you in your next steps?

Even after leaving Dare London (I didn't want to – I hit the age limit for being on the board), I still had great support!! Sophie connected me with the Lucy Wernick Fashion Agency who provide fantastic clothes for the employment and styling workshops I run. They have also provided references for work, signposted me to other organisations and helped me move forward.

4. Why would you recommend someone else getting involved?

If you're a young person that wants to try something new and grow in confidence this is the way to do it! The support you'll get is invaluable, the London Youth staff are so open and friendly. Joining Dare London changed my life.
